The UN’s high commissioner for refugees Philpo Grandi arrived in Gambella town

 Gambella, June 20, 2017(GCDC) - The Gambella regional state of Ethiopia said that it has finalized the preparation to mark the world refugee day.

Regional's President Gatwauk Tut Kot told a press conference that the region finalized preparing to colorfully mark the day with making hotels readies for guests and ensuring the security of the region.

The United Nation's high commissioner for refugees Philpo Grandi arrived in Gambella town to attend the 17th refugee day. 

The Commissioner was welcomed by Gambella region Chief, Refugee and Returnees Deputy director, Jemal Zeyinu and the residents of the town.

The commissioner will pay visit to Gunul refugee camp that hosts more than 300 thousand South Sudanese refugees.

 Celebrating the day will help Ethiopian draw international attention towards its effort in hosting refugees and garner international solidarity and support.

The day is themed, Solidarity for refugees.(WIC)
