South Sudan and Ethiopia have long standing brotherly relations: Ambassador

Addis Ababa,January 23, 2017 (GCDC) - Ambassador James Pitia Morgan, South Sudanese Ambassador to Ethiopia and Permanent Representative to the African Union during his meeting with Mrs. Hirut Zemene, State Minister for Foreign Affairs over the week underlined that his country gives considerable attention to its relation with Ethiopia and support from the country in difficult times.

During the discussion, State Minister Hirut noted that the people of Ethiopia and South Sudan have long standing brotherly relations and that it is in this spirit of good neighborliness and cooperation that Ethiopia is continuously focused on bringing durable peace that would lead to a strong and prosperous South Sudan.

Ambassador James affectionately articulated Ethiopia as his second home and that this sentiment is shared among South Sudanese. He noted with gratitude the important role Ethiopia played in the South Sudanese peace process particularly since the recent conflict erupted in 2013.

Mrs. Hirut and Ambassador James agreed on the importance working closely to strengthen the bilateral relations between the two countries.
